Disciples of Escoffier
This is the largest worldwide organisation of chefs, with more than twelve thousand participants in fifteen countries including America, Japan, Russia, China, France, and many others. The organisation is there to recognise and promote Auguste Escoffier's work, the development of brigade, kitchen structure, menus, professional achievements, books and anything that this Master did to serve our Industry.
When becoming a member, the candidate will swear that, during their professional life, he or she will follow the Master's 'Line of conduct', something great chefs usually do on a daily basis. This distinction is regarded as the most rewarding accolade that our industry has never provided.
During summer 2006 at Villeneuve Loubet in France, (Mr Escoffier's birth place), the Disciples International Committee chose the Association Culinaire Française de grande bretagne, (created by Mr Escoffier and Mr Fetu in 1903), to represent the Disciples in the UK.
See below a group photograph from the 2008 United Kingdom Disciples of Escoffier ceremony that took place at the Landmark Hotel on Friday 31 October 2008, with the support of the 2007 Disciples.
