The Chief Executive of County Council, Steven Pleasant attended the event to celebrate Tameside College's huge success in winning this award. Chris Massey commented:
It is indeed a great honour to receive such recognition from the ACF by awarding Tameside College the Gilbert Leferve Memorial Trophy. Our aim is to equip chefs with the skills necessary to compete in the global market place. My sincere thanks go out to the ACF and their voluntary staff for their continued support in our goal of training world class chefs.
Brian Yates, President d'Honneur for the North West Branch of the ACF, said:
For many years now Tameside College has contributed unstintingly both at a local level, staging competitions, sponsoring prizes etc and at a national level with the staging of the Coupe Escoffier Competition. My heart-felt thanks must go to Chris Massey for all his help in this area.
The association has strong ties with the college and many of the committee are members of staff within the Catering Department.
